Lex Atenveldtus section VIII. C. 2-3 specifies that in Atenveldt there shall be two Coronations (in May and November) which include a King's Champion Tournament. This is a two day event with Coronation held the first day and the tournament on the second day.

Mandatory Projected Profit

Per Thegn Robin, Kingdom Seneschal (May 7, 2006 Kingdom Calendar meeting), Kingdom Event bids must have a projected profit as listed in the yearly Kingdom budget. The Kingdom Financial Committee will not consider bids that do not meet this projected Kingdom profit margin. As per the Atenveldt 2008 Annual Budget printed in the March 2008 Southwind, Coronations must make a minimum of $1,000 profit for the Kingdom of Atenveldt.

Kingdom Officer Involvement

Since this is a Kingdom event, the appropriate Kingdom Officers will be in charge of their areas. As soon as you receive notification that you have been awarded the bid, contact them and request their assistance. They generally expect to be running each area, but it is courteous to ask and not just assume they will be helping. At the time you contact them ask what assistance they will need from you.

The Kingdom Officers involved are generally the following:

  • Kingdom Earl Marshal - In charge of Marshalling the fields for the day
  • Kingdom List Minister - In charge of running the tournament lists
  • Kingdom Herald - In charge of the tournament heralding
  • Kingdom Exchequer - In charge of Troll
  • Kingdom Waterbearer - In charge of supplying water for the fighters and, usually, the populace
  • Kingdom Chirurgeon - In charge of providing first aid type assistance when requested

Sometimes the Kingdom Officers themselves are not able to attend the event. In this instance, they will find an authorized individual to cover their area.

Day 1 - Coronation

Review the Royalty and Courts at Events page for additional information and tips on hosting the Crown.

Specific Space Needs

Since there are two sets of Crowns, and both will have a lot of activity, it is best to have separate Ready Rooms for them.

A majority of this day will be taken up with Court. A large room, with preferably comfortable chairs, will be needed. There will be many people at the thrones. Be sure there is a large enough area to accommodate the thrones, a large entourage behind them, and easy access for people approaching the thrones.

As this will be a long day, it is best for this to be an indoor site. Weather won't be an issue for you to contend with, and it will make things more comfortable for all concerned.

Things to Consider

There will be TWO sets of Crowns to work with: The King & Queen stepping down, and the ascending Crown Prince and Princess. Contact each Crown's herald to see if there is anything that you will be needed to assist with and to answer any questions they may have.

Usually there is a feast served at the end of the first day. If that is planned, review the Feasts page.

This event is not usually a camping event. If that is what you are planning, however, please review the Camping Events page, witch is coming soon.

Day 2 - King's Champion Tournament

Often times there are other tournaments held on this day as well. Contact Their Majesties' herald to find out if this will be the case and what Their plans are.

Specific Space Needs

Space will be needed for a tournament field, Royal Pavilion, and populace viewing around the field. The Kingdom Earl Marshal should be able to give you the dimensions needed for the tournament field.

Things to Consider

Since this will be an outdoor event, make sure that bathrooms and water will be available.
